Training

Whether you’re an inexperienced official or a veteran, training should be a consistent part of your officiating regimen. Good officials seek new information constantly. Here, you will find helpful resources to improve your game; but there are many other resources online and in person that you should be taking advantage of if you want to become a good official.

New to Officiating?

Don’t worry. We train first-year officials – of any age – and prepare them to get on the basketball court. Everyone starts at appropriate levels as they learn the game and the art of officiating.

Who is training?

The new officials trainer is Jaime Marquez. Jaime is in charge in providing first and second year officials with the tools they need to navigate their first few years on the court. The first meeting is 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11 at First Presbyterian Church, 1340 Murchison. Please contact Jamie at jamlawndart@yahoo.com or text him at 915-603-7427 for more information.

Our chapter’s rules interpreter is Zeke Sanchez. He makes sure the chapter is updated on all rule changes. He also provides weekly presentations to discuss relevant topics. He can be reached at  zeke718@yahoo.com.
